Sammons Golf Links, located in Temple, Texas, was established in 1921 as the Lake Polk Golf and Country Club, one of only a few nine‑hole courses in the state at the time City of Temple - Parks & Recreation. Over the decades, it evolved into an 18‑hole municipal course, with a redesign in the mid‑1980s by John F. Sammons Jr., former Mayor of Temple, who championed the idea of a municipal golf course to ensure access to the game of golf for all members of the community.
