Monteith Abstract & Title Company Celebrates 150 Years of Services and 75 Years of Turner Family Ownership
Monteith Abstract & Title Company proudly celebrates its 150th anniversary this year, marking a century and a half of trusted service, deep community roots, and family leadership in Central Texas. The milestone also commemorates 75 years of continuous ownership by the Turner family, who have stewarded the company since 1951.
Founded in 1876 by A.M. Monteith, the company has maintained a continuous presence in the Texas title industry for 150 years. When Frank J. Turner, Sr., purchased the business in 1951, he chose to preserve the Monteith name in recognition of its historical significance in the community. Frank Sr. was later succeeded by Frank Jr., who eventually passed the torch to the current leadership, Brett and Brad Turner. Today, Monteith Abstract & Title Company remains a third-generation family-owned business, holding the distinction of being the oldest independently owned title company in Texas.
Over the decades, Monteith has evolved alongside the real estate industry — from early abstracting practices to the modern title insurance and closing services offered today — while remaining grounded in the values that built its reputation. The company has grown from a single office with two employees to seven locations serving Bell and Coryell counties, supported by a team of approximately 75 professionals. Anchoring the team are more than 20 escrow officers with an average of more than 17 years of experience, reflecting Monteith’s commitment to longevity, knowledge, and service.
“As we celebrate 150 years in business and 75 years of family ownership, we are honored by the trust our communities have placed in us for generations,” said Monteith President Brett Turner. “This anniversary reflects the dedication of our employees, the loyalty of our clients, and the values that continue to guide our work.”
